Beaufort County Child Protective Services is an intrusive service
that is mandated by the state in order to provide for the safety and security of
children. The goal of Child Protective Services is the preservation
of the family through intense, non-voluntary
services.
Preventive/Supportive services are offered to
families believed to be at risk and in need of voluntary, non-intrusive services
to strengthen the family unit and prevent the need for Child
Protective Services.
When family preservation is not possible, children
are brought into protective custody in order to assure their safety.
Some
services provided and not limited to are:
-Foster Care
Program
-Adoption Program
-Celebration of Children(April is designated
Child Abuse Prevention Month and May is the Foster Parent Appreciation
observance).
