TYNDALL AFB (22 miles from NSA Panama City): Located on
the Florida Panhandle, enjoying sugar-white sandy beaches and the warm emerald
water of the Gulf of Mexico, Tyndall AFB is located about 13 miles east of
Panama City and 20 miles west of Port St. Joe.
Access to and from the base
is via U.S. Highway 98, which intersects U.S. Highway 231 from the north. U.S.
Highway 231 is the primary route into Panama City from Interstate 10, located 45
miles north of the city.
EGLIN AFB(33 miles from NSA Panama
City): Eglin AFB belongs to the Air Force Materiel Command, and the
96th Air Base Wing is the host unit. More than 50 associate units call Eglin
home and each one takes great pride in being a part of "Team Eglin." The 70th
Anniversary of Eglin was celebrated on June 14, 2005, and the base's rich
history carries a fine tradition of excellence both in the Air Force and in
partnership with the local communities. Eglin is the largest air force base in
the world, covering 724 square miles of reservation and 123,000 square miles of
water ranges in the Gulf of Mexico. Eglin employs approximately 11,000 military
and approximately 11,000 civilians.
HURLBURT FIELD (40 miles from NSA
Panama City):: Home of the Air Commandos since 1961, Hurlburt Field
today accommodates the 16th Special Operations Wing (16 SOW), Headquarters Air
Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC), an Air Force major command, and a
number of associate units. Named for First Lieutenant Donald Wilson Hurlburt who
was killed in an aircraft crash at Eglin Auxiliary Field #9 in 1943.

WHITING FIELD(106 miles from NSA Panama City): Naval Air Station Whiting Field
in Milton, Florida is the busiest Naval Air Station in the world, responsible
for an estimated 46 percent of the Chief of Naval Air Command's total flight
time and over 10 percent of Navy and Marine Corps total flight time. Over 1,200
personnel complete their essential flight training yearly. NAS Whiting Field and
Training Air Wing Five have an outstanding and unmatched safe flying record. The
station has served as a naval aviation training facility since it was
established as a naval air auxiliary station in July 1943. Its present mission
is to train student naval aviators in the primary and intermediate phases of
fixed-wing aviation, and in the advanced phases of helicopter training.
NAS PENSACOLA (107 miles from NSA Panama City): NAS Pensacola
is located in Escambia County in the panhandle of Northwest Florida. The
installation occupies 8,423 acres of land - 5,800 acres at the main installation
(NAS), and 2,623 acres at other area locations including Corry Station, Saufley
Field and Outlying Landing Field Bronson.
