In the past, the Navy's deployment cycle was fairly
predictable-six months at sea and then several months in port. The
implementation of the Fleet Response Plan has changed the entire
deployment cycle to allow the military to deploy its assets quickly
to meet the changing world situation.
To meet the needs of the changing
deployment cycles, NAS Oceana Fleet and Family Support Center offers a two-hour
course "Deployment Readiness Brief" on a regular monthly
basis. Oceana offers the programs on the first Friday of each month
from 9-11 a.m. and the third Wednesday, from 6:30pm-8:30pm. This
program allows the sailor to have a continuum of readiness. Simply
put, the sailor does not have to prepare to deploy, the sailor is prepared as
soon as he/she checks into the command.
