There are many opportunities for volunteer work in the community.  You can contact the Jacksonville-Onslow Volunteer Center who recruits, trains and refers volunteers to non-profit and public agencies in Onslow County. The Center works closely with the units aboard Camp Lejeune and MCAS New River.  The Volunteer Center also recognizes their volunteers' contributions.  Volunteering is an excellent way of updating your job skills, acquiring new ones and giving you viable work experience that can be put on your resume if/when you decide to search for a paid position.  Volunteer work may also lead to a paid position within the volunteer organization and gives prospective employers the opportunity to see what you can do.

You may also contact the installation volunteer coordination for volunteer opportunities in the community.  See contacts/links for contact information.
