There is no major industry in Jacksonville, NC. Most
of the available jobs are in retail and food services. The pay in
this area is not good either. Many employers pay minimum wage or
slightly higher. DoD is the largest employer in Onslow
County. There is a combined job fair at Camp Lejeune twice a year,
once in spring and fall, which has been host to over 200 companies
nation-wide. It is sponsored by Camp Lejeune, MCAS New River and
Coastal Carolna Community College and is open to all active duty and their
family members, retirees and DoD civilians. The Career Resource
Center at Marine Family Services, MCAS New River continually offers employer
recruitment workshops for active duty members transitioning out of the service
and their family members. There is also a monthly "spouse employment"
workshop held at Marine Family Services.
