Jefferson Community Action Programs (JEFFCAP) is Jefferson Parish's agency dedicated to fulfilling its mission of empowering as many families of Jefferson Parish including our elderly, disabled, economically disadvantaged and youth through our various programs. Linkages have been built with federal, state, local and private agencies to provide a wide array of services in order to help meet the needs of the clients we serve.

JEFFERSON PARISH: CITIZENS WITH DISABILITIES
The Office for Citizens with Disabilities provides: Information, referral, and educational services to Parish Officials, persons with disabilities, and the general public. This office is responsible for making recommendations to the Parish Administration with regard to the adoption and implementation of all plans relative to the interest and needs of the Parish's 89,000 citizens who have disabilities. This office compiled the Parish's ADA Compliance Plan and monitors to assure that the Parish is in compliance with Title II of the American's With Disabilities Act. It acts in an advisory capacity on disability related legislative mandates and advocates for ADA compliance by providing educational support to businesses public accommodations and parish and non-parish government entities so that litigation and discrimination against our citizens with disabilities can be avoided. EARLY STEPS PROGRAM
The ChildNet Program has transitioned administration from the State Department of Education (SDE) to the State Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH). You may have heard about this program, which is officially called Early Steps. It is an early intervention system for infants and toddlers with disabilities and their families, with services being provided by private and public agencies.
