Newport Naval Station is a United States Naval base located
near Newport, RI. Newport Naval Complex is the home of the Navy Education
and Training Center and is the only active military base in Rhode Island.
The center's role in the Navy is to train a wide array of personnel:
officers who serve above and below the sea's choppy surface, senior
enlisted personnel and young men and women preparing to attend their first
year at the Naval Academy. The 3,677 active-duty personnel and 3,897
civilians make up the Naval War College; Surface Warfare Officers School
Command; Naval Undersea Warfare Center; Naval Justice School; Naval
Academy Preparatory School; Broadened Opportunity for Officer Selection
and Training; Officer Indoctrination School; and the Senior Enlisted

The U.S. Coast Guard Academy is unique among the service
academies in that we educate the leaders of a humanitarian force. The
United States Coast Guard is the oldest life-saving service in the world.
A beautiful campus on the Thames River in New London, CT, the academy
provides a four-year Bachelor of Science program with a full scholarship
for each individual. The Academy is homeport for the U.S. Coast Guard
Cutter Eagle, the training ship for future Coast Guard officers. |
