Sales Tax varies county to county. Nellis AFB is located in Clark County where the sales tax is 7 3/4% on the dollar.
Retail space has more than doubled in the last several years as strip centers and malls continue to be built and expanded to meet the needs of the increasing numbers of consumers. Many commercially zoned areas have shopping complexes on all four corners, offering the full range of stores and businesses to tempt even the most conservative spender. Stores range in size and specialties throughout the entire community. There currently are around 120 shopping centers in southern Nevada.
The major hotels also showcase unique specialty shops, many of which feature year-round selections of resort wear, formal and casual attire, art and jewelry selections.
In addition to those major department store chains listed below the following are also represented (sometimes in various locations throughout the valley): Mervyns, K-Mart, Target, Service Merchandise, Sears, Montgomery Wards, Marshalls, Ross, Costco, Wal-Mart, Sam's Club, Home Depot, Lowes and T.J.Max.
