There
are many state and community social service agencies that provide a
variety of programs to support the health and well being of families in
the local area. An overview of two such programs follows.
The Food Stamp Program provides monthly benefits that help low income
households buy the foods they need for good health. If your family
meets the Program's eligibility requirements, the amount of food stamps
you will receive will depend upon the number of people in your
household and the amount of monthly income your household has left
after certain deductions.
The WIC Program (Women, Infants and Children) provides supplements and
nutrition counseling to low to moderate income, high risk,
pregnant/postpartum, breastfeeding women, infants and children under
five years of age.
These programs can be accessed by calling your local social service
agency or health department. This is a list of the military resources
that are available to assist with unforeseen financial/emergency needs.

Referral Program at (202) 433-6152.
