There are plenty of activities available on the Naval installations in this area.
Washington Navy Yard and the Naval Support Activity have
state of the art gymnasiums which offer fitness programs and classes.
For the seasoned or the beginning runner, MWR sponsors periodic fun
runs throughout the year.
Naval District Washington has an active Captain's Cup Race which offers a variety of sporting events to get involved in.
Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR)offers discounted tickets to
various theme parks, sporting events, concert events and shows.
MWR's Liberty program is available for single service members that want
to take advantage of some of the activities of the local
area. Transportation is provided.
Navy Recreation Center Solomons Island is located in Southern
Maryland. Solomon's offers campsites, lodging, and a fishing
and crabbing pier. There is something for everyone. Beach
Blasts, movies in the park, arts and crafts, theme days, bonfires,
hayrides, and swimming pools are a few of the activities available.
United Service Organization (USO) is located at Fort
Myers. It is opened to all service members. The
USO offers discounted tickets to various events such as concerts,
sporting events, and theaters. The USO has a full calendar
of events planned monthly. Pay-per-views can be viewed free
of charge on the big screen over at the Fort Myers' community center.
For camping equipment needs, MWR offers gear rental.
Throughout the National Capitol Region there are various military
installations that offer other recreational activities to include
movies, bowling, and swimming to name a few.
For Children:
The Youth Centers and community centers provide a wide variety of
activities for children. Dances, movies, and summer camps
are available.
Sporting activities for children are also available.
