All county public school systems offer Special Education Programs for children who are intellectually, emotionally, and/or physically challenged.  Placement in these programs is made through a collaborative effort by the neighborhood school team and the Admission, Review and Dismissal (ARD) Committee at the Division of Special Education for the county.  Service members whose children are receiving Special Education Services ahould bring the following documents when they PCS: a copy of the child's Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP); a summary of eduation activities and performance for the current year; medical and diagnostic records maintained by the previous school; school progress reports/report cards; notes to/from school or medical personnel; and homework and classwork samples.  This will eliminate any unecessary delay in identifying services.  For further information, call the Exceptional Family Member Program Coordinator at Fleet and Family Support Center, (301) 677-9014/9017/9018.
