Now matter how well you've planned your move, emergencies do happen! Before you leave, make sure you have with you all your important papers and records.  Important phone numbers, such as the Quarterdeck, Command Duty Officer and your sponsor should be readily available. The American Red Cross is always available for emergency aid anywhere you may be. Contact the nearest chapter (phone numbers are usually listed in the white pages of the local phone directory).  They can sometimes help with emergency financial assistance and contacting individuals that will need to know where you are and what's happening. All military installations have emergency services programs such as Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, Army Emergency Relief, or Air Force Aid Society.  They can provide financial assistance to meet unforeseen required travel and related maintenance expenses such as transportation, lodging or food, when applicable due to extraordinary costs involved with PCS.
