There are many educational opportunities for both family members and service members in the Fort Meade area, as noted in the related subjects below. The Meade Feeder System includes nine elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. These schools belong to the Anne Arundel County Public School System. Three of the elementary schools, the two middle schools and the high school are located on Fort Meade. The other five elementary schools are located off-post in the surrounding communities.
If you live in Anne Arundel County and intend to send your child to school in another county, contact that county Board of Education to determine tuition costs.
Physical exams are required for children participating in Youth Services activities and/or school sports programs. Exams are good for one year. Including proof of a physical exam in medical records will allow immediate participation. In addition, students in kindergarten, first, second, third, sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth grades must have proof of a second dose of measles and one dose of mumps immunizations to enter school. Students needing these immunizations can be seen at Kimbrough Ambulatory Care Center's Immunization Clinic during the hours of 0730-1130 and 1300-1530, M-F. IMMUNIZATION RECORDS AND MEDICAL RECORDS SHOULD BE BROUGHT TO THE SCHOOL TO ACCOMPLISH REGISTRATION.
The Public School Systems offer Special Education Programs for children . Placement in these programs is accomplished by a team at the neighborhood school and then referred to the Admission, Review and Dismissal (ARD) Committee at the County Division of Special Education.Private School Information
