Emergencies may happen while you are enroute.  Contact the nearest Air Force Aid Society (AFAS) office or the American Red Cross (ARC). AFAS representatives are found on any Air Force base or can be reached through any DOD service relief agency.  The ARC phone numbers can be found in the white pages of the local phone directory.

Hand carry your important papers including your orders, passports, traveler's checks, and medical records.  DO NOT ship these in your household goods or pack in your luggage.  Write down phone numbers and your travel plans.  Give a copy to your sponsor, your relatives, your gaining unit orderly room, or your losing unit orderly room.  Contact your next duty station command section (first sergeant or commander) for advice and assistance. See Major Unit Listing for phone numbers. The Air Force Aid Society or the American Red Cross should be contacted for family emergencies. Also, contact your gaining unit first sergeant or commander.
