Lakes
There are 38 lakes in the metropolitan Kansas City
Area. Longview Lake is 15 minutes from Richards-Gebaur and offers
swimming, boating, camping and picnic areas. There is also a golf
course and club facilities. Truman Lake and Lake of the Ozarks are an hour from
KC and offer fishing, swimming, boating, and camping. Exceptional opportunity to
enjoy the great outdoors. Check with the Relocation Office at the

Parks
Kansas City has been
ahead of the game in park land since the concept of urban planning was in its
infancy nearly 100 years ago. The city features over 200 parks for
your enjoyment. Check with the Relocation Office at the Community
Services Center or MWR for a complete listing. The parks offer camping, picnic
areas, ball fields, hiking trails, tennis courts, horseback trails, canoeing,
etc.For the young or young at heart there is a variety of museums, theaters,
amusement parks, and petting zoos in the Kansas City Area. Though not
all inclusive, some ideas are listed below.Many of the local communities sponsor
sports organizations for children as young as 5. These include
soccer, little league, T-ball and football. Longview Lake is not far
from the installation and has a large park with a 5 mile paved bike trail and a
swimming beach. There is a base pool that is open during the summer

SOCIAL". There is no sports program for children on the
installation.
