The Youth Center offers a Kids Plus pen pal program for our
teens. If you would like to write to a teen of similar age who is currently
stationed at McGuire, contact the Youth Center for more information. Some of our
relocating families also sponsor new families with children to the installation.
Have your military sponsor contact their assigned unit for sponsorship needs.
Employment opportunities include installation summer hire program assigned to
various jobs for ages 16-21; commissary bagging and inventory stocking, BX/PX,
or fast food, retail industries in the surrounding area.
The installation
also sponsors yearly Air Force and Army job fairs, recruitment fairs and
technology expositions for family members through the Family Support Center and
Army Community Services.
Local employers may require a valid NJ driver's
license for employment.
Local newspapers and cable networks keep our
families informed about employment in the community. Family Support partners
with many companies and businesses in the area that employ many of our families
in the New Jersey labor force. The installation has one Youth Center recently
upgraded and renovated with state of the art equipment. They offer sports,
instructional, and other age appropriate programs for our youth. The
Youth Center is affiliated with the Boys and Girls Club of America and partner
with them in community support events. The Youth Center provides a great
healthy, secure environment for daily recreational, sports and social activities
for our younger family members. There's something about military family members,
they are always together. Schools on base, youth center, BX/PX, malls, family
housing, sports and fitness center are normal meeting places for our young
family members.
Coping at a new installation will have a lot to do with
how involved you are with other youngsters participating in installation
functions and activities. Contact a friend or acquaintance stationed at your
next base through the Youth Center
There is an awful lot to do, on and
off base. Stop by the Family Support Center for your "Teen Tides" or FSC
"Entertainment Resource Guide" directory when you arrive.
