Federal employment on base is very limited, and somewhat limited
for priority placement career employees. There are other
opportunities for federal employment within the McGuire commuting area to
include the Army at Ft. Dix and Ft. Monmouth, the Navy at Lakehurst and in
Philadelphia, and the Department of Justice's Federal Correctional Institution
(FCI) co-located on Ft. Dix; US Customs, Department of Immigrations also have
some opportunities mostly in the Newark area. Many spouses may
qualify for the Military Spouse Program, please call the Family Suuport Center

information.
For spouses who are currently employed by the
Federal Government, OCONUS and CONUS, prior to your PCS to McGuire contact your
local CPO and insure your forms/records are updated including your employment
"status". Update your Federal Application (OF 612 or Federal
Resume). You may begin your Federal job search at your current base,
at the Family Support Center, using the internet. If you plan on filing for
unemployment insurance after arrival at McGuire, you will need a current copy of
your Personnel Action Form (52), and, your Social Security card. Eligibility for
unemployment in New Jersey is determined on a "case by case"
basis.
Consult your local CPO for specific information on Military Spouse
Hiring Preference prior to relocating to McGuire. The McGuire CPO and
the Career Focus Program Manager at the McGuire Family Support Center can access
current Office of Personnel Management (OPM) computerized employment/job
listings of most Federal and private agencies. Opportunities for Government
