Please contact the Readiness NCO at the Airman and Family
Readiness Center for a predeployment briefing. This briefing
describes what changes a family goes through during a TDY, deployment, or remote
tour; outlines the Family Readiness programs; and addresses any particular
concerns the family or individual may have. Assistance is provided
through many services to include;
-Car Care Because We Care
Sponsored
by the Air Force Aid Society. We'll pay for one free oil and filter
change, and a 15-point safety inspection at the Auto Skills Center for families
of deployed, TDY, or remote personnel (your spouse must be gone for 30 days or
more to apply). Spouse on a remote? We'll do it twice
during the twelve-month period for you! For more info and a voucher,
contact the Airman and Family Readiness Center at 759-6020.
-Give Parents
A Break
Sponsored by the Air Force Aid Society. We'll pay for you
to take your age-eligible children to the Child Development Center or the School
Age Program while your spouse is gone! Give yourself a
break. For more info on receiving a voucher contact the Airman and
Family Readiness Center or Child Development Center.
-Operation
READ
This program is designed to help children cope with their parent's
deployment. The FSC will provide a book to the deploying parent and
video tape them reading the story. The book and video will then be
given to the parent for their child when they deploy.
-Operation
REST
This program is designed to boost and maintain the morale of the entire
family using a visual reminder of loved ones during a separation. The
FSC will personalize pillowcases or T-shirts with photo transfers of both the
military and family members.
-Hearts Apart
The Airman and Family
Readiness Center and the 22d Communications Squadron sponsor the base morale
call service. (Family members must register with the Readiness NCO to use Hearts
Apart morale calls.) Start by getting a DSN phone number from your spouse at the
TDY location. Call the base operator (759-6100) and let them know you
want to make a morale call. Provide the operator with the DSN number
and they will connect you. Calls are limited to twice per week for 15
minutes.
-Videophone Calls
The Airman and Family Readiness Center has
videophones that you and your family may use in addition to the Hearts Apart
Morale call.
