Frequent separations and deployments are a way of life in the military. Be proactive and visit the Family Readiness office in the Family Support Center for valuable information on programs that can benefit you and your family before, during, and after a family separation.
The McChord Family Support Center Family Readiness Program provides a range of information and resources to assist service members and their families in planning for military separations (TDYs, schools, remote, unaccompanied tours and training exercises) and deployment.
Pre-deployment briefings are offered on a weekly basis and are strongly encouraged for all active duty members prior to deployment. Spouses are also encouraged to attend to find out what support is offered. Information presented in the briefings centers around the three phases of the deployment process: pre-deployment, deployment, and reunion. Family programs, such as Hearts Apart Morale Calls, Car Care Because We Care, Give Parents a Break, Videophone Calls, Smiles Over Miles, etc. are also presented during briefings. Briefings may be scheduled on an individual basis by calling the Family Support Center. We strongly recommend you be proactive and plan ahead for deployment whenever possible.
