Naval Hospital Jacksonville is a general medical and surgical
hospital offering both impatient and outpatient care. The hospital
also has the Navy's largest Family Practice Training Program. The
hospital is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of
Health Care Organizations (JCAHO). Accreditation is a professional
recognition for health care facilities that is an indicator of high-quality
health care.
There are seven branch medical clinics under the
administrative control of the hospital's Commanding Officer. Four are
in Florida: NAS Jacksonville, NAVSTA Mayport, NTC Orlando, and NAS Key
West.
The hospital and branch clinics serve a beneficiary population of
more than 200,000 people, of which more than 135,000 reside in north
Florida. The hospital and branch clinics are in TRICARE Region
Three.
The hospital staff on board NAS Jacksonville provide most of the
general specialties including family practice, internal medicine, surgery,
obstetrics, gynecology, psychiatry, radiology, ophthalmology, urology,
pediatrics, ear nose and throat, neurology, and orthopedic.
