Vehicle Registration:
Assigned personnel to Maxwell and
Gunter Annex must register their vehicles at the Maxwell visitor's center
located the Bell Street Gate on Maxwell. A valid I.D. card, driver's
license, car registration and proof of insurance are required to register your
vehicle on base. Individuals arriving from stateside locations have 15 days to
register their vehicles on base and individuals arriving from overseas locations
have 30 days.
Vehicle Insurance:
In accordance with AFI 31-204,
individuals must have a valid state driver's license; a certificate
of state registration as required by the state in which the vehicle is
registered; proof of meeting the minimum requirements for automobile
insurance laws of the state of Alabama. In Alabama all vehicles registered or
operated in the state are required to be covered by a liability insurance
policy. The insurance must provide a minimum of $20,000 for injury
liability for one person in an accident, $40,000 for all injuries in an
accident, and $10,000 for property damage in an accident. The policy
must be issued by an insurance company qualified to issue motor vehicle
liability insurance in Alabama. Motorists are required to carry proof of
liability insurance coverage in the vehicle.
Seatbelts:
Wear of
seatbelts is an Alabama State Law and are mandatory for on-base driving.
Penalties will be enforced for those not wearing seatbelts. Drivers are
responsible for their passengers.
If you have a vehicle accident, notify
the Security Police Desk Sgt - Maxwell 953-7222; Gunter Annex 416-4250. Report
to the Military Personnel Flight to request an update of Defense Eligibility
Enrollment Reporting System (DEERS) to
update ID
cards.
Motorcycles:
All motorcycle operators must comply with
the requirements of AFI 91-207 prior to registering a motorcycle on
base.
