Family Advocacy: Life Skills:
The mission of the FAP
is to build healthy Air Force communities by developing, implementing, and
evaluating policies and programs designed to prevent, intervene in, and treat
child and spouse maltreatment.
Components of the Family Advocacy
Program:
Outreach and Prevention
The Outreach Program is
designed to help all families build life skills. It is responsible for meeting
the needs of the military community, educating the community about abuse and
neglect issues and for providing services to families who are trying to enhance
parenting or relationship dynamics.
New Parent Support
Program
The focus of this program is to educate and give support to new
or expectant parents with children up to 3 years old. parents can attend classes
and receive videos, books, handouts and home visitation services. Topics
include: Childbirth, Infant Care, Breastfeeding, Parenting, Expectant Dads,
Pregnancy and much more!
Exceptional Family Member Program
The
EFMP is a program specifically designed to: ensure service available for family
members of active duty military in the event of a PCS; assist families with
relocation when a medical (or special education) condition exists and services
are not available at the current or projected location; assist families with
finding resources on base and in the community. Enrollment is mandatory for all
active duty military personnel who have a family member with an exceptional
need.
Maltreatment Intervention
This component accesses all
allegations of family maltreatment and assists in the treatment plan and case
management of substantiated or at risk cases. The goal of this component is to
provide safety to any child or adult who has been a victim of maltreatment and
to utilize a variety of resources to provide assistance to these families.
