There are numerous elder care programs in our
area. They provide a variety of social and health services programs
to meet the needs of elderly citizens. Priority is always based on
need and income. They provide housekeeping or respite services to
frail low- income elderly ages, 60 and older. Service is provided by direct
service staff (Homemaker/Respite aides) and outside contractors. Assistance is
provided for residents 60 and over enabling them to remain in the
community. It includes case management and emergency alert response
safety monitoring. The goal for this program is maximize self-sufficiency and
services supplement only when clients cannot do for themselves. Some
programs provide access to home delivered meals. There are centers
where the elderly can enroll and can enjoy health and social programs that
promote better physical and mental well being. Nursing assessments
and rehabilitative services are provided. Small group therapies are
provided for Alzheimer's participants. Opportunities for persons age 60 are
available to participate in a variety of activities including computer training,
blood pressure checks, fitness training, crafts, field trips, and support
groups. There is also a program which provides emergency repairs such
as roofing, plumbing for low-income homeowners.
