Federal employment on base is limited. Military spouses presently
employed with a federal agency may be eligible for the Military Spouse
Preference Program. If they are DoD employees they should go to their local
Civilian Personnel Office before relocating to register as a military spouse.
This program provides priority placement in the employment selection process for
military spouses who are relocating as a result of their spouse's
PCS.
All Luke AFB civil service positions for all grades are recruited
through the Air Force Personnel Center at Randolph AFB, Texas. The resume
submitted to AFPC by the job-seeker should be as comprehensive as possible, as
qualified candidates for jobs are identified by a computer search for skills
needed for positions as they become available. After your resume is accepted,
you are required to self-nominate for positions. Your name will be referred for
vacancies for which you qualify, based on the work experience given in your
resume. Resumes are submitted either on-line using Resume Writer or may be
attached to an email. Information about how to submit a resume, a Job Kit that
includes instructions, and answers to frequently asked questions can be found at
Air Force Personnel Center's website. Go to "Contacts/Links."
Federal employment may be available in the local area through agencies
other than DoD. The Family Support Center can provide job seekers with a list of
those agencies upon request. Federal job opportunities can also be explored on
USAJOBS website. Go to "Contacts/Links."
If you are interested in
employment under the Air Reserve Technician (ART) program at Luke AFB, an
application package may be picked up at the Civilian Personnel Office in bldg
1150.
If you are eligible for a Veteran's
Recruitment Authority (VRA) appointment, you may apply for positions on a
noncompetitive recruitment list. If you are selected for a position, you will be
required to provide a copy of your DD Form 214, Certificate of Release or
Discharge from Active Duty (member 4 copy), for each period of enlistment. If
you are claiming 10-point disability preference or compensable preference, you
must also provide a SF-15, Application for 10-Point Veteran's Preference, with
supporting documentation (letter from VA, or military department, dated within
the last year) showing the percentage of your
disability.
Applications/resumes submitted to the AFPC at Randolph via
FAX will not be considered nor returned. Applications and resumes must be
submitted at the applicant's expense, not via government equipment. On-base
employment that is not civil service can be explored through the contacts listed
below. Job announcements regarding employment opportunities near the base are
frequently posted in the Jobs Resource Center at the Family Support
Center.
