This area is a shopper's dream! Almost every part of town has
seen stores open in the last few years to accommodate new residents. There are
grocery stores, discount stores, super stores, malls, factory outlets and
various ethnic food stores throughout the area. The Outdoor Recreation section
of the 56th Services Squadron offers scheduled trips to shop in Mexico or you
can go on your own. The State of Arizona has a 5.6% sales tax rate. All counties
and cities levy an additional sales tax which could bring the rate to as high as
10.7%. The average for the Phoenix area is 8.6%. Food and
prescription drugs are exempt from sales tax.
