The number of private employers is too extensive to list. The
Jobs Resource Center at the Family Services Center offers comprehensive
employment assistance by posting hundreds of current vacancy announcements, and
by providing information on job fairs, contract employment, local labor market
trends, and job search strategies. The FSC has computers available for
resume/cover letter development and printing, as well as exploring employment
listings listed on the Internet or other electronic data bases. As stated in the
Employment Overview, in both Permanent and Temporary Employment Resources
sections above, job opportunities are in abundance. On a daily basis, the Family
Support Center receives job announcements for about 50 separate jobs. These job
announcements are then posted in the Jobs Resource Center. Literally thousands
of other job opportunities are listed in electronic data bases that are also
accessible at the Jobs Resource Center. Almost every week, a job fair or
recruitment event is held somewhere within the Valley of the Sun. Sometimes
several job fairs take place the same weekend.
Savvy job-seekers also
know that most jobs are unadvertised. Therefore, what is seen in the classified
ads, on bulletin boards, within electronic data bases, and elsewhere should be
regarded as the "tip of the iceberg." Those who want more information
about how to effectively access the "hidden" job market should contact the
employment assistance staff at the Family Support Center.
