Los Angeles AFB operates two clinics. The main base
clinic is located in El Segundo and the Fort MacArthur clinic is located in San
Pedro. These clinics handle routine adult and pediatric
care. Patients are seen by appointment only. Active duty female
members and wives of active duty members who need obstetric services are
referred to the civilian network since there are no provisions for obstetric
care at either base facility. The Fort MacArthur clinic employs a
Primary Care Provider and a Pediatrician.
The primary mission of the Los
Angeles Air Force Base Clinic (61st Medical Group) is to provide peacetime
healthcare to active duty personnel and ensure they are ready for wartime
deployments. Active duty members are the first priority of medical
services. They are entitled to receive complete
treatment. TRICARE Prime enrollees are the second
priority. All other beneficiaries will be treated on a space
available basis.
Upon reporting to their new duty station,
active duty personnel must report to the TRICARE Service Center to enroll for
TRICARE Prime. If family members desire to enroll in TRICARE Prime,
they must fill out an application at the TRICARE Service Center.
The
LAAFB clinic is open from 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday (duty
days), unless otherwise indicated. For medical appointments at LAAFB,
including active duty sick call, phone (310) 363-0964. The Fort
MacArthur clinic is open from 7:15 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday (duty
days), unless otherwise indicated. For medical appointments at the
Fort MacArthur clinic, including active duty sick call, phone (310)

Directory. Call the appointment desk at the main clinic at El Segundo
or the Fort MacArthur Clinic in San Pedro as early as 6:45 a.m. for morning sick
call appointments - the first available appointment at main clinic is at 7:30
a.m. Notify your supervisor of your appointment time, and arrive at
your appointment 15 minutes early.
The clinics are ambulatory care
facilities and do NOT have emergency rooms. Anyone, regardless of the
health care option they participate in, should seek treatment at the nearest
emergency room if care is needed to safeguard life, limb or eyesight, or call
911. For the Fort MacArthur area go to Little Company of Mary San
Pedro Hospital, 1300 West 7th Street in San Pedro. For the Los
Angeles AFB in El Segundo, go to Robert F. Kennedy Medical Center, 4500 West
116th Street in Hawthorne. For a list of other area hospitals see
Contacts/Links.
The closest military referral hospitals are the Naval
Medical Center San Diego, approximately 124 miles from LAAFB and the Naval
Hospital at Camp Pendleton located in Oceanside, approximately 88 miles from Los
