Base housing is located at Fort MacArthur in San Pedro, approximately 20 miles south of Los Angeles Air Force Base (LAAFB).  Assignment to base housing can be one of the most satisfying aspects of your tour at Los Angeles AFB.  The majority of the units have been built in the last decade and are located on the  beautiful Palos Verdes Peninsula in San Pedro, California.

Los Angeles AFB has 645 housing units divides among historic Fort MacArthur, Pacific Heights, and Pacific Crest.  Officer and enlisted personnel of all grades are entitled to live in Military Family Housing as long as they are accompanied by one or more of their family members.  The number of bedrooms authorized is based on the number, ages and genders of the family members.

As there is a waiting list for most categories of base housing, it would be to your benefit to apply in advance of your arrival should you wish to reside on base.  Simply go to the Housing Office at your current base and complete a Form DD 1746 (Application for Assignment to Base Housing), attach two copies of your orders, and mail to:  Base Housing Office, Fort MacArthur, Building 37, 2400 S. Pacific Avenue, San Pedro, CA 90731.  Or fax the form and copies of your orders to (310) 363-8386, DSN 833-8386.

There is no on-base housing for single officers.  Single first-term airmen are required to live in the dormitory.  All are single occupancy.  All single E-5 and above receive BAH and must live off-base.  For all others wishing to live in the community there are many opportunities to rent both apartments and houses in the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area. Bus transportation is provided to the base only during duty hours.  There is no enlisted dining facility, therefore everyone receives rations for food.  You will be cooking or eating out. Call the Dorm Manager at (310) 363-8345 if you have any questions.

Los Angeles Air Force Base has detailed guidelines for the supervision of children on base, (such as in and around quarters, outdoors on fields and playgrounds, etc.) and to establish an apporpriate age for a child to supervise other children.  Contact Housing Office, Services or for a copy of the guidelines.

Base policy permits a maximum of two four-legged pets per household, with no exceptions.
