For on-base emergency medical assistance, call 911 from a
land-line telephone. If using a cellular telephone, access emergency
on-base medical assistance at (310) 363-1110. (Calling 911 from a
cell phone will reach off-base emergency services.)
No matter how well
you plan, emergencies happen! Carry your important papers (orders, ID
cards, passports, travelers checks, etc.) with you. Do not pack them
in your luggage or household goods. Write down telephone numbers for
your relatives, your sponsor, gaining unit's Commander's Support Staff, and the
Command Post here at Los Angeles AFB.
The American Red Cross
and the Air Force Aid Society are available for emergency
aid. American Red Cross' phone numbers are usually listed in the
white pages of any phone directory. Air Force Aid Society, or
equivalent emergency financial assistance for other branches of the service, can
be reached by contacting a representative on any military installation. All of
the military services and the American Red Cross have reciprocal agreements to
help people in emergency situations.
Always have some savings set aside
for emergencies. Most individuals/families experience emergencies at
different points in their lives. If further assistance is needed,
please contact the Family Support Center at Los Angeles AFB for the appropriate
referral, or call the Command Post at (310) 363-2353, DSN 833-2353.
If
emergencies occur when you are en route to Los Angeles AFB, contact the Family
Support Center at the nearest military installation for
assistance. For emergency medical care, go to any
hospital. The American Red Cross is also available for emergency
aid. They can sometimes help with financial assistance and can
contact individuals for you.
Also be sure to alert your sponsor of any
problems you may encounter on your trip. Getting help is the smart
thing to do. There are several agencies that can assist in emergency
situations. Contact the Family Support Center for referrals to State
and County assistance. See Contacts/Links for other resouces.
