CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER:  This Program is for children of military members and DoD civilians.  Children ages 6 months through 5 years (if they are not in kindergarten) are served.  When demand exceeds space available, a waiting list is maintained and referrals are made to licensed family child care homes.  A current immunization record and birth certificate or proof of military or DoD dependency is required to enter the program.

Children can be accommodated for one-day-at-a-time if there is a slot open that particular day, but no reservation can be made ahead of time.  These slots come about when a child does not attend that day and the charges would be hourly. Up-to-date immunization records are required, even for this drop-in care.

To apply for child care before your arrival at Los Angeles AFB, complete AF Form 2606 and mail it to 61 ABG/SVY, 2420 Vela Way Suite 1467, El Segundo, CA 90245, or FAX the application to (310) 363-0658.  Forms can be submitted when mothers are at least six months pregnant.

Fees are subsidized with Appropriated Funds.  Families are placed in one of 6 fee categories, based on total family income.  Families will be asked to provide their most recent Leave and Earnings Statement (LES) and/or pay stub.  In accordance with federal guidelines, BAH or in-kind equivalent are added together with earnings to determine the fee category.  Fee schedules are based on DoD regulations.  There is a $25 non-refundable registration fee.

- Fees are reviewed annually in Fall.  Fees range from $62.00 to $129.00 per week.
- Hourly Rate: $5.00 per hour, one hour minimum charge
- Open Monday through Friday, 6:30 am - 6:00 pm.
- Accredited through the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs
- Closed Circuit TV cameras in all rooms
- Participates in USDA Food Program, and breakfast, lunch and snacks are included in the fee.

Parents may become involved in their child's CDC activities by volunteering a few hours a month or being a part of the Parent Participation Program.

FAMILY CHILD CARE (FCC):  A lending library is available for age-appropriate toys and books, and books and videos on child-rearing topics.  The FCC offers Give Parents A Break one Saturday per month for eligible families.

FAMILY CHILD CARE PROVIDERS:  A list of family child care providers residing in military family housing (Fort MacArthur) is available from the Child Development Center, Youth Center, Family Support Center, and published in LA Wave (Service's newsletter which is published monthly).
