The rental market in this area is fair. Two and
four-bedroom houses are always scarce. We have seen an increase in
rental rates over the past few months. We attribute this to fewer
vacant rental units. Temporary rentals off-base are very limited and
are more expensive. The temporary rentals off-base consist of one and
two-bedroom furnished apartments.
Apartments, houses, duplexes and mobile
homes are available for rent or purchase. Apartments in the area near
the base are limited during the summer, but during the winter months are more
plentiful. The average security deposit is equal to a half month's
rent, though some managers will ask as much as a month's rent. Most
rentals do not accept pets but if they do, an extra non-refundable deposit is
usually required. Some landlords also put type and weight
restrictions on the pet; normally limited to one pet. The first
month's rent and security deposit is normally required before moving
in. Most lease agreements are for a 6 month or 1 year
period. Rental rates do not include utilities, and most utility
companies require deposits. Utilities can average between
$100 and $250 per month. Rates vary depending upon size of the home,
number of residents, time of year, etc.
Personnel with
privately owned mobile homes are advised to contact the Housing Office for a
list of mobile home lots prior to arriving at Little Rock. There are
mobile home lots in the area but they are limited.
The Little Rock AFB
Housing Referral Office maintains their rental referrals in the contact/links
section under Housing Office. You can find rental houses, mobile
homes, and various styled apartments.
The Little Rock AFB
Housing Referral Office proudly sponsors the Rental Partnership
Program. This program provides safe, secure, affordable housing for
military members and their families in desirable locations. The
move-in time and costs are minimal, as there is no security deposit, application
fee or credit check. Rental rates are at the BAH level or slightly
higher depending on availability, size and amenities. Apartment
communities on the program have security systems and/or security patrols, and
have excellent maintenance response time. For more information, contact the
Housing Office at DSN: 731-7654.
If you are considering living
off base, whether renting or buying, please review the "Getting Started"

Center. Also, you can take advantage of the "Know Your Neighborhood"
program at the Family Support Center. This program provides detailed
statistical information about local areas to include schools, crime rates,
selling prices, and rental rates.
