The mission of the Family Advocacy Program (FAP) is to prevent
the occurrence and reduce the severity of family maltreatment. Our goals are to
provide education and treatment programs to reduce family conflict, and to
strengthen family cohesion. The FAP recognizes that the family plays an integral
role in supporting Air Force readiness by having a direct impact on the active
duty member's capacity to perform assigned duties. Family Advocacy has a variety
of programs that promote strong, healthy families by providing support,
prevention, and treatment services to eliminate the risk of all forms of family
maltreatment. You can enroll in any of the following programs by calling
987-7377.
Family Treatment Services
Assessment, case management
and clinical services are provided for families struggling with family
maltreatment issues. Clinical services include individual, marital, child,
family and group therapy. These services teach family members how to choose
healthy options when resolving conflict. The goal of the program is to help
families develop skills in effective communication, anger management, parenting,
conflict resolution and problem solving to reduce the risk of maltreatment and
enhance family cohesion. An eight-week Conflict Resolution Group for couples and
a three-week Anger Management Class are also available. Secondary prevention
counseling is provided on a space available basis.

Special Needs Identification and Assignment
Coordination Process (EFMP)
The Special Needs Process ensures that
Air Force families with special medical or educational needs are stationed near
facilities, military or civilian, that can provide necessary services. When a
military member gets orders for reassignment to another base, the Family
Advocacy contacts the gaining installation to determine availability of all
specialty care necessary for the enrolled family member. If the care is not
available at the new assignment, assistance is provided to obtain orders to an
installation with appropriate services. Enrollment is mandatory. Little Rock AFB
has a support group, Special Needs Connection, for families involved in the
special needs process.
