All vehicles entering the Naval Amphibious Base must have a base
decal. In order to obtain a base decal you must have the required
documentation.
*Military, Dependents or Contractors Badge
*Valid Drivers
License
*Proof of Insurance with a valid expiration date
*State
Registration and if registered in Virginia, a State Inspection
Receipt.
Virginia state traffic laws apply on the Little Creek
base. Seat belts are mandatory. Child restraint seats are required
for all children under 6 years of age. If stopped for a traffic
violation, state, local, and base officials can ticket for non-use of seat belts
and/or car seats. In addition, any traffic violation on the base will
also be counted against the Virginia's driving record.
Speed limit on the
base is 25 mph unless otherwise posted. Pedestrians have the right-of-way in a
crosswalk. Radar Detection devices are illegal in the state of
Virginia.
INSURANCE: All drivers must present evidence of
insurance which must cover the vehicle and the driver and be for the following
minimum amounts: Public Liability $25,000 (injury or death of one
person); $50,000 (injury or death of two or more persons); $20,000 (property
damage). Lesser amounts of insurance are acceptable provided that
they meet the minimum requirements of the state from which the registered owner
of the vehicles has been transferred until the current policy has expired.
