The city of Del Rio collects 1.5% sales tax, Val Verde County
collects 0.5%, and the state of Texas collects 6.25% for a total of 8.25% sales
tax.
Del Rio has many well-known eating establishments such as Chili's
and Applebee's, as well as, numerous fast food restaurants like Wendy's,
McDonalds, and Pizza Hut. In addition, restaurants such as Don
Marcellino's, La Parrilla Grill and Julio's provide an authentic Mexican flavor
in Del Rio. Living on the border also provides residents the
opportunity to eat authentic Mexican cuisine while visiting our sister city
Ciudad Acua.
For a small community, Del Rio offers the best
of both worlds. Shoppers enjoy spending time at small family owned
businesses such as the Ross Emporium in South Del Rio, but have the option of
large retailers such as JC Penny, Wal-Mart and HEB.
The
Wal-Mart Supercenter is open 24 hours a day. It offers the same items
found in other communities with some Mexican flavor added. HEB is
open 20 hours a day. Here you can find many popular Mexican food
items, as well as, a full service bakery, deli and pharmacy.
Plaza De Sol
Mall on Veterans Boulevard boasts several major department stores; JC Penney's,
Bealls, and Bath & Body Works just to name a few. The Cinemark 8
Movie Theatre is also located in the mall. For additional information
on stores and mall hours, visit their website at Contacts/Links.
Other
major retailers in the community are Radio Shack, Sears, Dunlaps, GNC, CATO and
Dollar General. For more information on the local community, checkout
the Del Rio Chamber of Commerce website.
