On-Base

There are volunteer opportunities on Lackland AFB in Wilford Hall Medical Center, the American Red Cross, the Lackland Independent School District, and in other offices on base.

To make this possible, the Air Forces Aid Society (AFAS) offers Child Care for Volunteers.  The AFAS will pay for up to 20 hours of day care each month per child if the parent volunteers on base.  The point of contact for this is the Volunteer Resource Program Manager at the Family Support Center.

Off-Base

San Antonio is rich with opportunities to volunteer.

Hospitals, nonprofit agencies, youth organizations, health care facilities, churches, schools, and United Way rely on volunteers to meet their goals.

The American Red Cross provides a number of services to military families and offers numerous volunteer opportunities.
