depending on type and area. The average rent of a one-bedroom apartment is $500,
two bedroom apartments $680; three bedroom apartments are $900, and three
bedroom rental homes average $900+ per month. The average commute time is 20 to
35 minutes.
HOW TO FIND HOUSING OFF BASE
Visit the Housing Office
and check out the Relocation Information Center or contact the Housing Referral
Officer.
If you do not find suitable apartments under the Rental
Partnership Program, you may find it convenient to check the Yellow Pages for
Apartment Locators. Apartment Locators are usually licensed real
estate agents who attempt to match your needs to the apartment complexes in the
community. Once the locator has a list of apartments that meet your
criteria, you then have an opportunity to visit those complexes to see if it
fits your needs. Apartment Locators do not charge the prospective
tenant for their services. If you sign a lease at a complex to which
they referred you, they ask that you notify them so they can collect their
referral fee from the complex.
Of course, you may also use various
websites, word-of-mouth, the newspaper, Yellow Pages, or any other method you
choose.
If you prefer a single dwelling, check with several
realtors. Most real estate offices also have a property management
service. They will work with to find a rental house that meets your
requirements.
