Family Advocacy is a DoD initiative for the prevention,
education, intervention, and treatment of child abuse, child neglect, child
sexual abuse, spousal abuse, and sexual assault. It is also the focal
point for ensuring that needed services are available at a potential assignment
if a family member is registered as having special needs.
Programs
offered include new parent support, parenting classes including one for fathers,
playgroups, anger management, stress management, and individual
counseling.
It also tasked with investigating cases of family
maltreatment, sexual assault, and domestic violence. Children who are
old enough to be left home alone benefit from the Safe Kids program offered to
ages 8-11. The class is mandatory for children living on base who
will be alone part of the time. Please request information from
Family Advocacy or the Housing office for guidelines on leaving children
alone. Please note that the guidelines apply for Air Force families
that live off base as well.
