Family Advocacy Program
The New Parent Support Program,
offered by Family Advocacy, was initiated recognizing the unique stressors to
military families. The program is designed to assist families with
support and education during pregnancy and enhance a smoother beginning for a
new family. A registered nurse follows the family from pregnancy
through birth and end up to the toddler's third birthday. Services are targeted
at first time parents and are provided by home visits and clinic or telephone
consultation, and are designed in accordance with the unique needs of each
family. This may include support, health education and planning,
information on parenting, and collaboration or referral to other agencies in the
community. All active duty members and their dependents are eligible;
the service is offered at no cost.
Family Support Center (FSC)
The
FSC offers Bundles for Babies class on a monthly basis for all expectant
parents. Please call the FSC to register for the class. Sponsored by the Air
Force Aid Society, all parents receive useful information on setting up a
budget, paying down debt, baby safety, baby calming techniques, and shaken baby
syndrome. Air Force parents or dependents receive a baby bundle,
which contains various baby items.
Baby Layettes are available to first
time parents E-6 and below, Lieutenants, or to parents of multiple births to
assist families with getting prepared for the arrival of a new
baby. The layettes include a baby blanket, baby clothing, toy, and
other baby items.
