The Camden County School System consists of two middle schools
which house grades 6-8.
The Camden County School System has a close
relationship with Naval Submarine Base, Kings Bay. Personnel from the
Navy base continuously lend their expertise to the school system at every grade
leve. Sailors and Marines often serve as tutors, install equipment,
maintain school infrastructure and serve as judges at the high school science
fair.
Since 1979 the schools have grown at a rate of around 300 students
per year. For the 1999-2000 school year, we expect over 10,000
students. In 1978-1979 the system had only 2,800 students.
The
Camden County Schools place emphasis on the basic skills, however, we do have
excellent programs in all areas of the curriculum.
Activities
in the Middle Schools include football, basketball, cheerleading, baseball,
track, tennis, golf, voleyball, band, choir, junior ROTC, and scholastic and
vocational clubs.
Georgia Law requires the following in order to
enroll in the Camden County Schools: (1) An Official Copy of the Child's Birth
Certificate (a copy can be made from the original at the school); (2) An
Official Certificate of Immunization (Georgia Form 3032); (3) An Official
Certificate of Eye, Ear and Dental Examination (Georgia Form 3300); and (4)
Social Security Card of the Student (Optional).
