If you arrive at NAS Key West prior to the arrival of you POV
from the overseas area, it is suggested you contact the inbound Personal
Property Office (PPO) prior to going to the port to receive your POV. When you
pick up your vehicle at the port, ensure that you do a thorough inspection of
the vehicle and annotate any damage. After you leave the port, if you discover
damage to the vehicle that was not reported while at the port, it will be
difficult to substantiate your claim for damages. Please check with your local
PPO office or the port itself for details on shipment of your vehicle. It is
very important that at the time you present your vehicle for shipment you and
the port representative do a complete inspection of the vehicle. Ensure complete
visual inspection of the vehicle and accurate annotation of any damage to the
vehicle.
PRIVATELY OWNED VEHICLES(POV): PPO has all the POV shipment
information; however, the NAS Key West PPO does nto process applications for
shipment. Your Personal Property Office (PPO)located in Key West will only
counsel you on your upcoming POV shipment and provide information to you
regarding the 12 POV Processing Centers that are located throughout the United
States and the restrictions and/or laws for the Country where you are shipping
your vehicle.
A reminder to those returning from overseas and if your
catalytic converter was removed;it must be replaced before traveling any
distance in the State of Florida. The State Highway Patrol will issue
a ticket if they discover you do not have the catalytic converter on the
vehicle. We suggest you have in hand a copy of your orders, receipt
when item was taken off to travel overseas, and a plan to reinstall the
catalytic converter in a reasonable period of time after the vehicle is picked
