Family Advocacy offers a New Parent Support Program
(NPSP) which provides parenting education & support during pregnancy and
through the toddler years. A registered nurse and trained social
worker are available to answer questions and provide support to
families. The NPSP team is also willing to meet with families in
their homes on a strictly voluntary basis. Breast pumps may be
available through Family Advocacy based on family
need.
Family Advocacy also runs the Special Needs
Identification & Coordination Assignment Process Program (SNICAP - formerly
the Exceptional Family Member Program). This program ensures active
duty dependants with special needs receive the medical, educational, and mental
health care needed. This program also ensures active duty members who
have dependants with special needs are assigned to locations that can provide
the needed help.
Passport to Parenthood is a Family Advocacy seminar held
in conjunction with Family Supports Bundles for Babies program. These seminars
give expectant mothers information on parenting skills, nutrition, and
more. After completing the seminar, Air Force spouses/participants
receive a layette provided by the Air Force Aid Society.
