There are two satellite offices within the Fort Myer Military Community. Fort Lesley J. McNair is located approximately 10 miles from Fort Myer. The Joint Military Assistance Center (JMAC) is located within the Pentagon in room 2D173.
Fort McNair has been the headquarters of the U.S. Army Military District of Washington since 1966 and home of the National Defense University since 1977. Other units on post are the 767th Explosive Ordinance Detachment and A Co., 3rd U.S. Infantry (The Old Guard). Fort McNair is the home of several general army flag officers, and by tradition, the Army's number two officer, the Vice Chief of Staff. Fort McNair receives its support services from Fort Myer.
The Fort Myer Military Community (FMMC) Army Community Service (ACS) has joined forces with our sister services (Air Force, Navy and Marines) located within the Military District of Washington (MDW) to provide a full range of family service programs to our service members in the Pentagon. We are located in 2D173, right next to the Dry Cleaners on the Mall. We are open Monday through Friday, 0800-1600. Our telephone number is (703) 692-7735/7736; FAX (703) 692-5025. Services include:
Employment Readiness Program (ERP) is available upon request to assist with a variety of employment services, i.e., developing rsum?s, locating current job vacancies, resumix instruction, job search web sites, Myers-Briggs testing, one-on-one counseling or classroom instruction.
Financial Readiness Program (FRP) is available upon request to assist with budget planning, debt liquidation, financial planning, checkbook reconciliation, consumer complaint issues, and a variety of financial and consumer classes for unit or individual training.
Information and Referral (I & R) Program renders assistance in locating military agencies/offices throughout the Pentagon and the Military District of Washington (MDW). Also provides referrals to military and civilian agencies. These include the Staff Judge Advocate Inspector General (military) and the Women's, Infants and Children (WIC) program and the Department of Human Services (civilian). Other nice to know information includes Mobilization informational briefings, Army Family Team Building (AFTB) classes for spouses/family members and Army Family Action Plan Symposium (AFAP) for quality of life issues. In addition, varieties of services are also available to Department of Defense (DOD civilians) and contractors.
Relocation Assistance Program (RAP) provides assistance to service members with a wide range of settling in or departing services, i.e., Welcome Packets from Fort Myer or other installations world wide, SITES files, housing information (short-term lodging, Set-Aside, government quarters and contracted housing). A kiosk is located just in side our door where current floor plans and waiting lists are available. Sponsorship training and Permanent Change of Station (PCS) classes (Smooth Move, PCS to Germany and PCS to Korea) are available on a monthly basis.
Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) provides special medical and educational needs assistance, EFMP initial enrollment information or verification of existing enrollment, relocation assistance, and special needs local and national organizations that aid families with advocacy and training.
