If you live on Fort Myer, your children will attend Arlington
County Washington-Lee High School. Arlington County schools maintain
a Student to Teacher ration of 11:1.
Arlington County High Schools offer
interscholastic and intramural sports activities after school. Some
of the programs offered are: cross country, basketball, field hockey, track and
field, tennis, gymnastics, crew, swimming and diving, wrestling, softball,
baseball, lacrosse, volleyball, golf, soccer, football, cheerleading and indoor
track and field. They also offer other organizations and clubs, such
as honor societies, literary activities, student support groups, drama clubs,
forensics, musical groups and activities, service clubs and a host of additional
opportunities.
Most school districts have a policy that you must live
within the boundaries of a specific school for your children to be eligible to
attend. Check on the website of a school district and look for
Boundaries. Type in your local address and it will tell you what
schools your children are assigned to attend. Usually documents such
as rental contract or a utility bill with your address printed on it will be
needed when registering to verify your address. In some cases, school
districts will take a few families from a waiting list and allow them to pay
tuition to attend their school. So make sure you check the schools
where you want to live. For more information on this subject utilize the
Northern Virginia Schools website.
