Naval Hospital Jacksonville is a general medical and surgical hospital offering both inpatient and outpatient care. The hospital also has the Navy's largest Family Practice Training Program. The hospital is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO). Accreditation is a professional recognition for health care facilities that is an indicator of high-quality health care.
There are seven branch medical clinics under the administrative control of the hospital's Commanding Officer. Three are in Florida; NAS Jacksonville, NAVSTA Mayport, and NAS Key West. Four are in Georgia; Subase Kings Bay, NAS Atlanta, Navy Supply Corps School Athens, and the Marine Corps Logistics Base, Albany.
The hospital and branch clinics serve a beneficiary population of more than 200,000 people, of which more than 135,000 reside in North Florida. The hospital and branch clinics are in TRICARE Region Three.
NAVHOSP JACKSONVILLE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE "CHIROPRACTIC HEALTH CARE DEMONSTRATION PROJECT" (CHCDP). Established to evaluate the feasibility and advisability of furnishing chiropractic care through the medical care facilities of the Armed forces. Eligible patients with spine-related neuromusculoskeletal conditions, who wish to participate, will choose either chiropractic care or traditional care for treatment. After completing the screening process, an initial survey and a patient acknowledgement form will be completed by all patients. Patients will also be asked to complete a four week follow-up survey. Involvement is on a voluntary basis. Clinics taking part in the program are Family Practice and Branch Medical Clinic Jacksonville.
