Ingleside is a very small community with
few large businesses. Corpus Christi has a much larger employment
base. In an effort to reduce overhead, many businesses do not hire
directly. They are only hiring temporary employees through the Texas Workforce
Commission (the State unemployment office) or though one of the numerous
temporary job placement agencies in the area. Therefore, upon your
arrival you will need to do two things: 1) apply for unemployment
with the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) if you "involuntarily resigned from
your position as a result of your military spouse's transfer", and 2) register
with the TWC to receive job referrals for various employers in both Nueces and
San Patricio counties.
Other businesses are
transitioning to the services offered by temporary and permanent placement
agencies. For those employers who still hire directly, you will want
to contact them by phone with a resume and cover
letter. Consult the Employment Office for resources on
guidelines for operating a business in Texas, businesses you can run from your
home and licensing requirements for specific businesses, including child
care. Following is a list of various employment resources (also refer
to the section entitled "PRIVATE SECTOR EMPLOYMENT").Corpus Christi's private
sector offers a wealth of opportunities for career advancement. The
following is a list of the Coastal Bend's largest employers as well as their
addresses and phone numbers. Feel free to call these companies to
request application materials or send them a resume and cover letter detailing
your skills and availability. Access the local job line numbers for
information about specific openings.
