If you would like your children to receive welcome letters from
HAAF youth services, please write or call. We would like very much to help
relieved the stress of relocation for the youth also.There is a "Summer Youth
Employment Program" here on the installation, but positions are limited. The
department of labor also works with local business to gain employment for youth
. Please contact ACS AT 315-6816 for more information from the Employment
Assistance Program. Youth Services provides monitored care for children 6-18
where they can interact with their peers. They offer TV, video games,
pool, air hockey, board games, crafts, cooking experiments, contests, dances,
and trips. They support several sports such as soccer, basketball,
cheerleading, baseball (including t-ball and machine pitch), and football if
ther is enough participation. Girl Scouts also meet on base under the
YS umbrella. Call 315-5005 for more information, or call the Youth
Services Information Hotline at 315-5864. The Youth Services offers time slots
where only older children are allowed in the facility to provide peer
time. Some trips or dances are restricted to older
children.
The Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts also offer troops and camps for
the teen crowd. The Girl Scouts provide older girl weekends where they can go
skiing, white water rafting, and in their summer program they have a scuba camp
to encourage older girl participation.
