General Information
Hawai'i has 283 public schools serving approximately 183,000 students.  There are 255 regular school, 3 special schools, and 25 "New Century" public charter schools.  

Hawai'i's public schools are grouped into districts.

The Districts are sub-divided as follows:
--Central District (Hickam/Pearl Harbor/Mililani)
--Honolulu District (Waikiki/Downtown)
--Leeward District (Ewa Beach/Makakilo/Kapolei)
--Windward District (Kailua/Kaneohe)

Graduation Requirements (State Directed):
--English (4 credits)
--Social Studies (4 credits)
--Mathematics (3 credits)
--Science (3 credits)
--Physical Education (1 credit)
--Health (1/2 credit)
--Guidance (1/2 credit)
--Electives (6 credits)
---TOTAL:  22 Credits for High School Diploma
