The Air Force employs approximately 1200 civil service workers at various installations on the island of Oahu (Hickam Air Force Base, Wheeler Army Airfield, Kaena Point, and Bellows Air Station); the island of Hawai'i (Kilauea Military Camp); and the island of Kauai (Kokee Tracking Station). Occupations range from blue collar to clerical to professional level positions. For the island of Oahu, federal APF employees receive a 25% cost of living allowance (COLA), in addition to their base pay.
Family member employment programs for current APF employees include the Military Spouse Preference Program (MSP)and Executive Order 12721 (for those transferring from foreign overseas areas). To maximize employment opportunities, family members should seek counseling from their current Civilian Personnel Flight (CPF) AND visit/call the Hickam CPF upon arrival.
