The New Parent Support Program is a family support program
promoting positive parenting and healthy families. It is a group of
home visitors with special training and expertise in a variety of topics for
parents and young families. They provide personal and educational
services for families who are expecting, or have infants or young children
between the ages of 0-6. These services take into account the special
needs of military families, and are available to military families at
installations worldwide. The Henderson Hall/Quantico NPSP serves
military personnel and family members assigned to Henderson Hall, Quantico, and
other duty stations in the DC Metropolitan/Northern Virginia area.
NPSP
offers:
* Home Visits, with a chance for a supportive confidential
relationship, a chance to discuss your concerns in the privacy of your home,
help with the challenges of parenting infants and young children, and support
for the demands of military family life.
* The Program provides support
and education to interested community members in supportive
settings. Families can get communication tips and community resource
information, too. Topics cover infant care, toddler tips, child
development, discipline, family relations, personal needs and more.
*Baby
Boot Camp prepares parents for baby's arrival, a day-long program of education
and hands-on practice handling babies.
*Parenting Classes provide
information and education on discipline, parenting styles, communication issues
and building self-esteem for children.
*Mom's Group meets twice monthly
at Quantico NPSP to provide a networking opportunity for moms to discuss
parenting issues, share resources and make friends.
