Dining on Hanscom:
Hanscom has several dining options, including the consolidated Minuteman Club, Bowling Center Snack Bar, the Pizza/Sub Shoppe, Burger King and Dunkin Donuts. Several main buildings have snack bars (1305, 1106, MIT/Lincoln Lab) or cafeterias.
Shopping at Hanscom:
Commissary and Base Exchange privileges are extended to military personnel, retirees, reservists and their dependents carrying the uniformed service I.D.
The Minuteman Thrift Shop offers good quality second-hand items for sale.
Sales tax info:
MA citizens are exempt from paying tax on food and clothes. A 5% tax is levied on all other purchases. Once a year, usually in August, the Governor declares a tax amnesty day/s on purchases up to $2500.
NH has no sales tax for purchases.
Both states charge tax on restaurant and lodging purchases.
